Animal Friends History
Animal Friends Humane Society Inc. was established in 1999. Originally known as Friends of the Animal Shelter, it was an all Volunteer, Non-Profit Organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for animals in the Decatur Animal Shelter by providing supplies, Veterinary care and equipment for the Shelter.
From 2004 through 2006, Animal Friends focused on Sheltering, Adopting, and Fostering homeless animals in the Community.
Since 2007, Animal Friends has made a concerted effort to maximize every dollar received by concentrating it's efforts on a Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance program for Morgan County, Alabama Residents and plans to initiate and maintain Humane Education for all 3rd Grade Students in Morgan County by promoting Sponsorships of “In Kind News” for each classroom. Our Animeals Program began in 2006 providing Meals On Wheels clients with their pet food and kitty litter each month delivered by Volunteers. Click here to donate.
With a passion for positively impacting as many animals as possible in our Community, Animal Friends is driven by reducing the numbers of homeless and unwanted animals, as well as educating the Public especially our children, to responsible Pet ownership and compassion for all creatures with whom we share our World.
